it has some Preparation using rice flour it is sweet and kara Adai . We generally keep the Adai, beetel, turmeric, yellow rope some fruits along with Butter 🙂 yeah we need to taste the adai with butter only :P:P
While tieing the rope we have to say this tamil saying

Meaning :I am placing unmelted butter and a adai in front of you, at anytime my husband should not be separated from me

Rice flour – 1 cup (refer here for how to make rice flour at home)
Green chilly – 3 nos finely chopped
ginger – 1 tbsp grated
Coconut grated – 1/4 cup
Black Eyed gram – 3 tbsp (KARAMANI)
Water – 2 cups
Curry leaves – 10 finely chopped
Salt – as required
Oil – 2 tbsp
Mustard – 1tbsp
Soak the Black eyed gram for 8 hours .
Take the rice flour and fry it in the pan for 5 minutes the consistency is u should be able to draw a kolam thats the consistency off the flame ,
Heat the kadai and add the oil once heat add the mustard seeds once cracked , add the green chilly, ginger and curry leaves saute for a minute , then add the grated coconut and Black eyed gram saute for some 5 minutes in the low medium flame !
Now add the water and adjust salt allow it to boil , once the water is boiled add the rice flour slowly and stir continuously so that it wont form any lump saute for some 3 minutes then off the flame !
Grease the idly pan and so as ur Palm ! take a ball sized mixuter and flatten it and make a small hole in the center just a dip ! look at my picture u get it better ! do the rest and steam for some 10 to 15 minutes
Serve with Butter !
U can use the store bought rice flour too !
