When i tried this puloa i was little scared whether he likes this rice or not ! because it has little bitter taste ! of course it wll have ! i served with baby corn masala ! so when i packed i told him if you do not like do not take it ~ u take it outside ! To my surprise , he said its good , and different !
Methi leaves – 2 to 3 bunch finely chopped and cleaned ( i used the small one not the big one they use in north india)
Cinnamon – 1 small piece
fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
green chilly – 2 nos
turmeric powder – a pinch
red chilly powder – 1tbsp
salt -as required
ghee – 1 tbsp
Oil – 1 tbsp
Rice – 1 cup
water – 2 cup
*soak the rice in immerse level of water for 20 minutes
Heat the cooker once heat add the ghee and oil then add the cinnamon and fennel seeds, saute for one minute , then add the green chilly and onion saute till it turns semi brown !
then add the cleaned and chopped methi leaves and saute for a minute ! then add the turmeric and red chilly powder and adjust salt ! saute till methi leaves cooked semi ! then add the rice and 2 cup of water ! allow it to boil once boiled close the cooker and put the whistle and leave for 2 whistle and keep it in the low medium flame for 5 minutes !
Open it and smell the aroma ! i serve with Baby corn masala ! it way yummy !
- I used normal rice infact u can use basmathi as well as seeraga samba rice works well !
- Soaking must for the rice so that when u open after cooked u can see the boiled and separated rice !
- I did nt use ginger garlic paste do not want over masala ! if you prepare pls go head and try the new variations !
- It will have little bitter taste !
