Planing sundal is one of the important part in Navarathiri ! some ppl say it has some Rule , Friday means Puttu , Saraswathi pooja means chick pea sundal ! I am so excited about the Gollu , Coming to today recipe, our navarathiri is incomplete without PEANUT sundal ! It can be made easily , if u have soaked the Sundal over to 5 hrs, It tastes to the core, i love to take the soaked Peanut itself, so whenever amma soaks she soak half more cup ! because some times we take raw too !
Raw Peanut – 1 cup (soak it in the water for 3 to 4 hrs)
salt – as required
oil – 1 tbsp
coconut – 1/4 cup (shredded)
Red chilly – 2 nos
Hing – a pinch
Soak the peanut for 4 to 5 hrs , then pressure cook it by adding the required amt of salt , and leave for 2 to 3 whistles. when pressure cook it make sure the it is in the immerse level (water level) , Now grind the ingredients given under ” TO GRIND” ,
Heat the pan and add the oil once heat add the mustard seeds, once cracked add the peanut and saute for 3 to 4 minutes, then add the grinded coconut, and mix well off the flame. If u want it you can add some curry leaves and ginger ! But in our family we want it plain So prepared this way !
- Soaking the peanut is very important .
- Do not over cook it , otherwise it wont be separated
- Adding curry leaves is optional .
- Instead of grinding , you can directly add the shredded coconut and red chilly . But we also grind it and add.
