Maida – 1 cup
Vanasapathi – 75 to 100 ml
Sugar – 1/4 cup (powdered)
Oil – to deep fry
Take wide bottomed vessel and add the sieved maida and vanaspathi . mix well , it will have crumble texture, then add the powdered sugar and start mixing by sprinkling the water, Note Do not pour just a sprinkle. Then make a soft smooth dough, and keep a side for 10 minutes.
Divide the dough in equal size ball,. now Take one ball and roll it thin or thick, I would suggest you to roll semi thin since we have added vanasapathi it will rise well irrespective of thickness. Use your knife or pizza cutter or back side of the spoon (which has a shape) . Cut in to the diamond shape.
Heat the kadai and pour the enough oil to deep fry it . Once heat add the enough diamond pieces in to the kadai . Deep fry till it changes it colors to brown. Since we added sugar it will have nice semi brown color.
Then transfer the biscuit in to the tissue paper to absorb the oil. then keep it in the air tight container. You can have as such or you can add this for the mixture too , I believe and hope my next post must be South indian style mixture fingers crossed.
- You can replace the Ghee instead of vanasapathi.
- Also you can add some Elachi powder too.
- While kneading the dough do not pour the water just sprinkle the water.
- If u do not want maida you can replace with Wheat flour , half maida and half wheat flour.
