Servings – 3 nos
soaking the basmathi rice time :30 minutes.
Basmathi Rice – 1 cup
Ghee – 1 tbsp (to Grease the kadai)
Oil – 2 tbsp
Onion – 2 medium size
Water – 2 cup
( I used india gate basmathi rice. It says the proportion of water is 1 :2 , it requires soaking of rice for 30 minutes in warm mixed hot water)
Coriander leaves – 1 cup (cleaned, washed and finely chopped)
Green chilly – 3 to 4 nos
Garlic – 5 to 6
Ginger – 1 small piece (1/2 inch)
water – sprinkle some for making paste
coconut – 1/4 cup
Fennel – 1/2 tsp (optional)
Take your mixie jar and add the ingredients given under ” Paste 1 ” and grind it smoothly by sprinkle some water, Then add the paste 2 ingredients and grind it by sprinkle some water.
Heat the Pan or Non Stick vessel (which has Lid to close the vessel ), Add the ghee once melt, rotate the tawa so that the ghee spreads the whole vessel which helps in preventing the rice burnt. Then add the oil once heat add the chopped onion saute till it turns semi brown, then add the paste 1 and saute well till the raw smell goes, Once ready add the paste 2 and mix well, adjust salt.
Now drain the rice completely. add the drained rice to the kadai and mix well so all masala’s mixes well, then add the Water , and once again mix well, Now allow the mixture to be boiled, Once the water starts the bubbles completely , keep the flame to low and close the lid, Check after 10 minutes, it would have boiled well if not you can see the water allow it to set for 5 more minutes. off the flame and let it be in the same kadai for 5 more minutes,
All ready to serve with some raitha and hot kuruma.
- It has only green chilly as spice so adjust the level according to your family
- Then till you water bubbles it should be in high mode, then change it to low mode, Check every 5 minutes,
- I followed the technique of cooking basmathi rice as per the cover instruction if its vary from your rice you have to plan it accordingly.
- I have use my prestige hundai kadai, if u are using your cooker, close the cooker after it starts boiling, then keep the whistle and leave for 2 whistle. then keep the flame to low for 5 minutes, open the cooker once it is released.
