Till karthigai we are not suppose to taste, So generally amma buy more peanut so that we wont touch the urundai , but still we cheat amma and take the urundai . since today is a children s day i thought of posting this , just back to my memories, I enjoyed my child hood a lot , by playing outside and all kind of activities, but now a days kids are more concern about their laptop , games, and gadgets, These kids are missing so many things in their life. so allow your kids to play outside. let them learn and realize what is enjoyement.
Preparation time : 30 minutes, Cooking time – 30 minutes, you will get some 30 medium size ball
Roasted peanuts – 1/2 kg (make sure it doesnot have skin)
Jaggery – 300 gms
Water – 1/4 cup
Rice flour – to grease the hand
Ghee – To grease the hand
Better use the Roasted Peanuts, If not roast the peanut completely before you use it, Also If the Roasted peanut has skin you need to remove the skin , once done keep aside. Now take the Jaggery and pour in to the heavy bottomed kadai and add the water, keep stirring till it dissolves completely, once done, filter the jaggery water for taking the impurities from the jaggery, wash the kadai well then keep it in the flame and add the jaggery water.
Bring it to boil till it reaches the ball consistency, To check that , u need to take a cup of water, then pour the jaggery water, it should not dissolve also you should be able to make a ball shape, thats the consistency, then off the flame, add the roasted peanuts, mix well , Now grease your palm with Ghee then rice flour,
Now you can easily make the ball shape , allow it to cool completely and store it in the air tight container , I am sure this wont stay in your house for more than one day , But still it can be preserved and used for a week
- Make sure you are using the Roasted and skin removed peanut, Half of your job over,
- If not u need to roast and remove the skin then star preparing for jaggery syrup
- Jaggery syrup consistency is very important, So that u can get the ball shape and hold of the shape.
