One pot meal are always hit at my home and its easy and handy :D. Though i have already post the green pulao recipe , the one i posted was with coconut milk, though it tastes good, on healthier note i always liked restaurant style green peas pulao , which is mild and more flavor’s. So i always wanted to prepare this green peas pulao when peas are fresh and low in cost, So this time i tried with my very own spices and it ended up great taste.
Soaking Time :30 minutes
Cooking time :15 minutes
Preparation time : 10 minutes
servings – 3 nos
Basmathi rice – 1 cup
frozen or fresh green peas – 1 cup
salt – as required
ghee – 2 tbsp
oil – 2 tsp
bay leaf – 2 nos
cinnamon – 2 sticks
star anise – small pieces
lichen – few pieces
( you can choose your very own spices, so i mixed every thing in my hand and just did a crush – all the spices together less than 2 to 3 tsp not more than that.)
Ginger – 1 inch piece
green chilly – 2 nos
garlic – 5 to 8
Soak the basmathi rice as per the pack instruction, i have used india gate basmathi Rice, so i soaked it in the hot water for 30 minutes
Heat the kadai and add the ghee once its melt,just rotate the pan (this way it will prevent the rice not sticking to the kadai) add the spices, choose according to the family taste, Do not add more, make sure every things comes to 1 tbsp (just a random measurement),add the crushed bay leaf, saute for a minute then add the chopped onion and saute till it changes to semi red, now add the paste and saute till the raw smell goes,
Once the raw smell goes, add the peas and saute for 2 minutes let it blend well, adjust salt, mean while strain the basmathi rice water and add it to the kadai and saute for minute, then add the 2 cups of water and allow it to boil completely.Then keep the flame to medium flame and close the lid. leave it for 10 to 15 minutes, after wards check. Once cooked off the flame, and stir it. again close the lid for 5 minutes
serve hot with raitha or any other gravy!
- Add the spices according to the family need ,also do add bay leaf it tastes great with that.
- Also we have not added any other spicy powder so make sure you are balancing the spice flavor with green chilly in the paste.
