Toor dal – 3/4 cup
Tomato – 2 medium size
Turmeric – a pinch
hing – a pinch
Water – as required to boil
Oil – 2 tbsp
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Chilly – 4 to 5 ( i used the ripe green chilly)
salt – as required
Methi leaves – 1 cup (cleaned ,washed & chopped)
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tbsp
Cook the toor dal along with Tomato , turmeric and hing and smash the dal completely and keep aside.Mean while finely clean the methi leaves and strain the water.
Heat the kadai add the oil once heat add the mustard seeds once cracked add the urad dal , and saute till it turns semi brown and add the Chilly and saute for a minute. Then add the methi leaves and saute till raw smell goes.
Then add the smashed toor dal mixture and pour some water and mix it nicely,Adjust salt. Make sure the leaves and mixture are evenly spread, Then add the ghee and off the flame
Serve hot with Plain rice . Also you can pair with mild veggie, I served along with Plantain Curry (i will post that soon)
- I have not added any onion and garlic , for variation you can add.
- Also i have not added any spices i want very mild and want the methi flavor to dominate . If u want it you can add the red chilly powder .
