To soak :
White thick Poha – 1 1/2 cup
Tamarind water semi thick – 3 tbsp
water – 1/4 cup
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
red chilly – 3 nos
curry leaves – few leaves
peanuts – 3 tbsp
salt – as required
turmeric – a pinch
hing – a pinch
Take a wide bottomed vessel , add the poha, then add the tamarind extract and water and mix it gently. make sure the water is spread over the poha, leave the poha for 15 minutes,
Heat the kadai , pour the oil once hot add the mustard seeds , once cracked add the urad dal , red chilly, curry leaves, peanuts and saute till it turns semi red.
Then add the soaked poha , turmeric and hing and mix well , adjust salt, saute till the poha cooked. it will take less than 10 minutes, since you have used semi thick poha as well as u soaked it.
serve hot with Coffee, definitely a great evening snack and easy breakfast idea.
- Use Thick poha so that once u cooked it will be separated , otherwise it will be messy.
- Adjust the tamarind extract according to the family need.
