Well the election fever is over, And we can expect some change in our India. To celebrate that , i am posting this Ragi flour cookies. So enjoy the result.
I have bookmarked this recipe long time back, Some have i was not able to prepare cookies, Couple of days back i have been to my husband mothers native, So i packed these cookies for travelling, It was good to have , every bite with ragi is damm good, i had a concern about the butter , but once in a while its good . So no compromise on that. Once i baked i just touched the cookies, it was above to loose its shape, i was little scared that all my effort and amt of butter gone 🙁 , But i allowed it to cool completely, once it cooled, i took a piece it was pretty good and it holds the shape. So if u are beginner then u can very well try this cookies,
Preparation time :15 minutes
Baking Time : 12 to 15 minutes
Yields – 16 cookies

Ragi flour – 1 cup
Corn flour – 1 tbsp
All purpose flour – 1 tbsp
cocoa powder – 1 tbsp
Sugar – 1 /2 cup (u can replace it with brown sugar too)
Butter – 1/2 cup
Milk – to sprinkle (or else replace it with curd 1tbsp)
Baking powder – 1 tsp
cinnamon powder – 1/2tsp
Elachi powder – 1/2 tsp
Choco chips – to decorate.
Mix the Ragi flour, corn flour, All purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, elachi and chinnamon powder, mix well so that every thing mixes evenly
Make sure the butter is at room temperature, pour the butter in the kadai and allow it to heat, once its melt completely, off the flame and pour the sugar, mix well and wait till the sugar melts,
Now add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well, and make a dough , if needed sprinkle some milk i.e 1 tbsp + 1 tsp not more than that . once u kneaded and form a dough. Then take desired amt of dough, and make a ball shape, keep in your palm, and using your other palm just press it , it will get a round shape. shape it. Do it for rest of the dough too. Take the tray and keep the tracing paper,and keep the cookies in the tray ,arrange it. then pour some choco chips on the top of the cookies
Preheat the oven for 10 minutes, and place the tray inside the oven and bake it for 15 minutes at 190 degree. Mine got baked under 15 minutes, also you can see the change in color of the cookies. Allow it to cool completely in the wired rack, Initially u cannot hold the cookies, but later you can easily hold the cookies.
Once its cooled you can store in the airtight containers and it will be there for a week, So enjoy the cookies.
- If u do not want cinnamon flavor u can replace it with elachi completely, the same applicable if u do not want Elachi.
- Actual recipe calls for curd, But i replaced it with milk . if u have curd you can use it.
- You have to wait after u baked the cookies, it tend to loose, but when u wait for an hour u can see the complete cookies without much cracked.
