KEERAI VADAI recipe WITH STEP BY STEP PHOTOS AND DETAILED EXPLANATION:
So whenever you plan for plain ulunthu vadai, reserve few batter to try this keerai vadai, i am sure this is will be the winner in your family. off to recipe.
Urad dal – 1 cup
Keerai (green leaves ) – 1 cup Finely chopped
green chilly – 3 no finely chopped
Onion – 2 medium size finely chopped
salt- as required
Curry leaves – few
oil – To deep fry
Ginger – 1 tsp grated.
Soak the urad dal in enough water for 2 hours. and strain the water ,completely and grind it nicely to smooth batter (sprinkle some water – Do not pour it ). Make sure the batter is thick and nice. Mean while chop the onion,green leaves, ginger and green chilly. take a vessel add the onion green chilly and leaves ,curry leaves ginger and urad dal batter adjust salt. mix well.
In another kadai pour the enough oil, let it heat. once its hot.Take the required amt of batter and flattened in the banana leaves or zip lock covers shape it and make a hole in the center, then carefully take the batter transfer in to the oil. or else take the required amt of batter in fingers, and shape it and make a center hole. By practise you nail this art so do not worry. pour it in the oil, and deep fry it .
serve it for variety rice or as a starter.
- If u do not want onion you can avoid it.
- The same can be done using channa dal too.
- Also clean well before you add the leaves, otherwise the vadai wont be good.
- Use good quality urad dal for getting perfect vadai.
- Conscious needed while sprinkle water , if its watery add a tbsp of rice flour.
