Tomato Salsa is a Mexican type recipe which is generally used as dip for Tortilla chips, else fill it in the tacos , burrito and serve. This easy tomato salsa recipe can be made in jiffy perfect for party and get together. Yet delicious one. Salsa is mostly tomato based though many are not.They taste ranging from mild to extremely hot.
Traditional Mexican tomato salsa is made using the mortar and pestle . But it does have other variations of roasting the tomatoes, onion , jalapeno in the oven then mash it up. Actually few add vinegar, some use pickled peppers instead of fresh one. I have no idea where i get tacos, so i planned to replace the tacos with Indian pap pad do not laugh at me. My idea seriously worked out . I made roasted pap pad with tawa. Its easy and guilt free recipe too.
Procedure to make Tacos using Indian Pap pad.
Heat the tawa, once hot, place the pap pad, once you see the small bubbles, flip it over. use the flat ladle for turn over. flat the pap pad if it rises up, once both side cooked. remove from the flame, keep the pap pad in the palm and keep the Roti (chapathi) roller and press the pap pad. shape it. you will get the shape. check the below picture you will get the idea.

Tomato – 4 nos
Onion – 1 Medium
Coriander leaves – few for garnish
Jalapenos – 3 nos
Green chilly – 1 small (finely chopped)
pepper powder – 2 tsp
lime juice – 1 tbsp (adjust as per need)
salt -as required
Wash the tomatoes well and cut in to four halves, and remove the seeds. Then finely chop the tomatoes, Onion green chilly jalapenos. Once every thing is finely chopped.
Take a Mixing bowl place all the veggies, then add the lemon juice, pepper powder and salt. Give a nice mix. Keep a side for 30 minutes, let it infuse the flavors.
It can be served as a dip for burrito, Tortilla chips and or a filling for Tacos.

Removing the seeds of tomato and chopping gives different flavors, So do remove the seeds
It can be chilled for 1 or 2 hours before serving.
If you are using to fill the tacos, before serving it can be filled, just be ready with the salsa and tacos.
Adding sugar is an optional one. if you want sweet touch in your recipes you can use ½ tsp .
For Indian Version , Raw mango and cucumber can be added.
A pinch of cumin powder definitely gives nice taste.
Instead of adding the chopped tomato, you can also roast the tomato, onion and jalapenos in the over for 20 minutes, cool down then using blender it can be mashed.
The authentic salsa is prepared using the mortal and pestle. You can also try that.
I have used the roasted Indian pap pad in the place of tacos, if you get tacos, you can also use that.
